Invalid Stud Requests
Started By
I haven't been able to accept a stud request from a stranger for one of my studs since around when I first joined the site. Often, I get no notification for a stud request and I don't see it until one actually goes through, and I see the original, 'hidden' request when I go to check the one that I actually got a notification for. When I try to accept a request, every single time, either the bitch is no longer in heat, the bitch is already pregnant, or the user no longer has breeding requests available for the month.

There's a really, really easy way to fix this. It won't allow anyone to actually accept those, but it will get rid of the frustrating, unacceptable stud requests. Rather than just sitting on a dog's page for eternity, invalid requests need to just disappear rather waiting to be accepted even though they're defunct.

Here's an example. I see a nice stud that makes good predicts with my bitch, and she's in heat, so I send a stud request. I wait and wait, and the user doesn't accept. Rather than letting her just go out of heat, I breed her to one of my studs. Instead of having the request just hang around on their side, acceptable but invalid, a bit of code should recognize it as invalid and remove it from their page, and send them a notification that the request has been retracted. Same goes for bitches going out of heat, or if someone has run out of breedings and can no longer accept. ..Or if one of the dogs involved has died, or became sick. Anything that would make a request invalid.

Thoughts?

Can you not just 'reject' the breeding? (I dont do alot of outside breedings so not sure on this)<br /> <br /> For the serious breeder, I do feel the ability to view all your breeding requests in one place would be a nice (and VERY useful!) addition. <br><b>Unless this is already present and im just not looking</b><br /> <br /> Following on from the suggestions, prehaps a 'lifetime' on requests where if they have not been accepted within say 7 days the requests are automatically cancelled

Definitely support. I can see the invalid requests as being a huge PITA to be honest... like if you saw more stud requests from multiple dogs, it would be a pain to have a couple invalid ones sitting around and a waste of time

My suggestion definitely includes bitches that are out of heat, it's a main point in my post and one of the big things invalidating requests sent to me. I don't really see the point in not just waiting until she goes into heat to send the request.

Same issue, but... often requests are sent without the bitch being in heat with advance notice to the stud owner. I have that happen quite a bit, so I do not think flagging not in heat as invalid request is such a good idea. <br /> <br /> Someone with no breedings left should not be able to send a request to begin with, and I agree about the pregnant bitches.

Definitely support. I'd even go as far to say that some code should exist for people who have run out of breedings where, if they try to click the "Breed" button, they get a message saying "Sorry, you're out of breedings right now."<br /> <br /> I'd also say that if a stud request isn't accepted within 48 hours, then the request automatically retracts and goes away, since 48 hours is around the time a bitch would generally be in heat.<br /> <br /> Personally, I'd also like to see a limit put on how many studs you can request at one time. As in, if you've already requested a stud for a bitch, you can't request another stud for the same bitch until your former request has either been accepted, rejected, or expired.

I completely support.<br /> <br /> I have the same problem. I send a request, then end up breeding my dog to a different stud since it was never accepted, then it just sits there, which bothers me.
